Rituals for Wellbeing with Jan Stanley

In this episode I am joined by Jan Stanley, a consultant, facilitator and celebrant, specializing in harnessing the power of rituals to enhance wellbeing both individually and collectively. In our conversation, Jan describes the difference between habits, practices and rituals, she walks me through a ritual design process, and provides a wealth of examples of how we can incorporate rituals within our personal and professional lives.   

Jan Stanley is a faculty member in the Master of Applied Positive Psychology program at the University of Pennsylvania, and a consultant and facilitator who works with organizations to design positive work cultures. Jan specializes in helping leaders translate organizational purpose and shared values into impactful actions. She has helped to develop leaders from the Fortune 500 to Silicon Valley, the US Army, NASA, federal, state, and municipal governments, nonprofits, and global philanthropies. She is currently focusing her energies on work with organizations who contribute to societal wellbeing. Jan is also a leader in applying the science of well-being, often called upon to design custom gatherings for individuals and groups. She is currently curating a collection of rituals for wellbeing, soon to be released as a book and an accompanying interactive website. Jan is a member of the Penn Resilience Team, a consulting arm of the University of Pennsylvania focused on increasing mental agility, collaboration and resilience. Jan has helped guide the practices and careers of thousands of leaders through coaching, facilitation and thought leadership. Jan is originally from Madison, Wisconsin, has lived and worked in New York, and currently resides in Denver, Colorado.
